high school

All students are expected to improve themselves substantially during their tenure in my class(es). In Power Mechanics, each team is expected to renew and start a small engine. In Introductory Auto Technology, each student is required to learn 5 core competencies:• On board diagnostics (OBDII)-Knowing how to interface and diagnose basic    problems through the computer system.• Electrical System Testing- Starter, alternator, and battery diagnosis• Tire Mounting and Balancing-Using our computerized road force analyzer.• Fuel Injection System Servicing-A cleaning nets an average fuel economy improvement of 5%.• Used Car/Safety Inspection- A core skill everyone should know. It will keep you safe and save you $$$.My advanced auto technology class requires the completion, individually, of at least one thesis project. This is a major mechanical project pre-approved by myself, and usually requires days, if not weeks to complete. A few examples: Clutch replacement. 4-wheel hydraulic brake job. Cylinder head repair. Timing belt service. Suspension work, such as ball joints, followed by a 4-wheel alignment. My best students will complete multiple thesis projects over the course of a semester.
