My name is Debra DeYoung, I have been teaching in the Rochester Public School system since 1991.  I taught Life Science at John Adams for 7 years and have been at Mayo High School teaching Biology Honors and AP Biology since.

Honors Biology is intended for highly motivated students who are planning on attending college and possibly preparing for a future in science. Biology topics the same as regular biology class but Honors Biology covers the information in more detail and at a faster pace and consists of more individual/research responsibilities. Commitment to study concepts outside of class is important along with the development of good study habits. Study techniques will be introduce, modeled and practiced in class. It is expected that honor students will continue these practices on their own outside of class. Topics covered: Nature of Science, Ecology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Mendelian Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biology and Diversity of organisms: microbiology, botany, zoology, human biology.
