On the K-12 level, we expect all students to:
  • Know and understand the importance of accident prevention and the immediate care given to injuries and illness resulting from emergency situations including crime.
  • Know how to maintain and promote the health of the people and places around you.
  • Understnd the relationships that occur throughout the life cycle as they relate to physical, social, emotional, mental and spiritual health.
  • Know how to think clearly, express feelings, communicate effectively, make responsible decisions, and cope with stress and pressure.
  • Know the nutritional and fitness principles needed for optimum health and disease prevention.
  • Instill responsibility for making choices that will move individuals toward quality physical, social, and emotional wellness for self, others, and the surronding world.
  • recognize and understand the prevention and control of communicable and noncommunicable diseases.
  • Understand chemical use, abuse, and dependancy.
  • Understand that the above goals reflect the fundamental characteristic of inclusive education, i.e., respect for diversity and cultual pluralism.
Physical Education
On the 9-12 level, we expect all students to:
  • Apply concepts of fitness and wellness.
  • Learn physical skills.
  • Apply knowledge of rules, strategies, and safety in a variety of lifetime activites.
  • Develop a positive acceptance of self and others.
