TV II/Spartan Scene Course Overview
Overview:

Television Production II is a yearlong course designed to develop the advanced skills necessary to create television and video programs. Therefore, students need to have successfully completed the basic skills presented in TV I. In this course you will have the opportunity to work both in front and behind the camera.

Class Requirements:

Daily Show

The number one responsibility of the student produced news show is to make sure we report the information that people have requested we report. Any feature must fit the time constraints and quality criteria of the show. It is important that we are mature and professional or students and staff will not take us seriously. It’s OK to use humor and showcase your personality, but use common sense. Gross or offensive material will not be allowed and may result in suspension from your duties on the show. BE FUN, ENTERTAINING, AND INFORMATIVE.

Quarterly Project

Each quarter you will work on an individual project that will showcase your individual production skills.

Quarterly Out of Class Taping Assignment

Each quarter you will be required to videotape one school community event. There are many opportunities to tape sporting events, concerts, plays, and club presentations through out the year. The easiest, and perhaps most fun, way to fulfill this requirement is to sign up to help on a RITS production. Taping any other school activity will need to be pre-approved.

Expectations:

Television is a very competitive field and equipment is expensive. Developing your skills and work ethic can help you “break out of the pack” and have first shop at opportunities beyond the classroom. Because the school, employers, and community expect quality production work, our standards and expectations are high. To be successful you must develop an ability to be self critical and work in a team setting. Set a high standard of quality for yourself and be willing to rework a piece until it meets the standard. Students who behave in a way which endanger people or equipment may be subject to disciplinary action and possibly removed from the course.
