Graphic Design & Illustration Resources


Many graphic designers use a variety of resources to create their original designs. Below are a list of resources you might use throughout this course. Please be aware that some resources might have changed since this list was created. You may also search for additional resources to help you with a particular project or idea.

Creative Commons Resources - Search through a variety of search engines such as Flickr, Google, and Clip Art Library for photos that have a copyright that allows digital manipulation and reuse. You can choose to search for photos that are allowed for commercial purposes. - Search a limited number of high quality professional digital photographs - Excellent source for high resolution & professional digital photographs - Excellent source for textures & backgrounds - Search for a variety of different packages from templates to backgrounds to vector graphics that are all completely free Tutorials & Help - Video tutorials on different topics from the book on Photoshop CS6 - 100 tutorials ranging from creating neon text to surrealist photo manipulation - Good resource for finding answers to certain questions or basic tutorials if you are stuck Color Resources - This site gives you a variety of different color schemes based on a chosen color including monochromatic, complementary, triad, tetrad, and analogous. - This site allows you to design your own original color scheme and gives you hex codes that you can copy in Photoshop

Other Resources - This site includes a modest collection of Photoshop brushes you can download - This site offers users the ability to upload and view other artist’s and designer’s work. You can also find useful tools and downloads. Just go to “Browse” and click “Resources & Stock Images” in the left hand banner.
